Welcome back to another blog. This is going to be a short, but have no fear- there's a ton to talk about down the road. To start things off, a little announcement. I've been thinking about how to make the blogs I write more engaging and I've noticed that I tend to write two types of content. Really generalized updates about what I'm working on and really narrow pieces dealing with a few- usually one or two topics. So I've decided for now to formalize these thoughts and do better to plan ahead on what it is I want to write about. I tend to naturally write more general updates because I don't plan the blogs too well. In the future I want to bring an equal amount of 'Focus' blogs and general blogs. I believe each has its place on my website, and the goal is to plan well enough that those types of blogs are engaging enough to continue to bring people back to this website. This is something that will improve as time goes on and it will definitely change, but this is the first step for me to upgrade my blog writing, in the same way I've upgraded my animation pipeline and planning of my life. I don't have any specific plans on when you'll start seeing this shift, but it will be sooner rather than later. I won't make it into an announcement either, it'll just kind of happen. I'm excited to see how much I can push these blogs, so I hope you continue to read them in the future.
Animation is my name...
Now the meat and potatoes. Meatatoes? Sounds delicious. Anyway, for my ride or dies, you may have noticed the output of art for my social network and website offerings have slimmed a great deal. There's a reason for this.
The simple answer is that I am planning a TON of animation for the next year.
The goal is to release at least one animated 'mini' (I will discuss this in detail soon) or episode in a web series a month or every other month. I've taken the second half of this year on planning this content, and I more or less have the whole year planned out with tons of great content. Even though I have a lot of animation planned, I am very passionate about maintaining a certain level of quality. With this said, a lot of these plans are subject to change, but this is something I am very committed to delivering.
I know this is all vague, but I don't want to make the mistake of announcing things that are so far out and have them never be delivered. I think it's in everyone's best interest that I finish my work before putting it out there and that's exactly what I intend to do.
Next, some updates about the state of my already animated ventures. The first How To Be Successful cartoon was released last month and I am content with its performance. It's a small start to something much bigger and for that I find I need a different level of patience. That said, those who have seen the episode have really liked it and want more (which I plan to deliver) and that's a good sign. As the other episodes are reached I believe the series will begin to gain more momentum. It's very exciting for me seeing all of the fruits of my labor begin to grow.
Speaking of 'How To Be Successful' episodes, the next episode will premiere on here tomorrow at 9pm. It will be available on Youtube and Vimeo next Thursday at 7pm. If you haven't subscribed to me on Youtube, you definitely should!
Closing out the updates, I'd like to take a moment to speak a bit about 'Quiet'. A few months ago I entered the short film in a ton of festivals and spent a lot of money in the process. A lot of the deadlines for these festivals are now approaching and I'm waiting in anticipation to see if there's any other festivals I can get into. It has been a very interesting road for this little film this year and I'm very happy with the attention it has gotten me. Here's to participating in the next wave of festivals! Also, feel free to watch it again!
I have a lot of animation coming down the road and the 'How To Be Successful' webseries is here for the fall. If you like my animation or content in general there's a lot to be excited about and I'll reveal more in due time.
