Hey everyone, this is going to be a short and sweet post. Reason being that I'm simply too busy animating. Anyway...
Quiet animation update
So the film is going well. In fact, I'm done keyframing the whole film! That said, it is taking me longer to finish than I expected. The film turned out to be a lot bigger than I expected and my impulse to smooth the actions out usurped my original intention of the animation style of the film. What I mean by that is originally I wanted to animate the film on 3's and 4's (for the uninitiated, that means a drawing every 3 or 4 frames). Eventually, while animating, I realized that if I had put so much effort into it already, I might as well go all out into making it look as good as possible. So now I'm making the film with that mind set. Basically, whatever looks good is what I'll go with. Sometimes that means actions being animated on 3's, sometimes it means on 1's, etc. I must say that what I have made so far fills me with a lot of joy. Seeing everything come together this way reminds me of that last time I made a solo film about 5 years ago and it's a feeling I sorely missed.
Now that you know that I have dedicated my time to making the animations better and more smooth, the important fact in all of this is that due to making these extra frames, I've dedicated practically all of my work time to polishing this film. My work schedule looks something like this:
- 8:30am-9:00am- Wake up, shower, dress
- 9:30am-10:00am- Eat breakfast
- 1:00pm-2:00pm- Lunch
- 5:00pm-7:00pm- Rest, dinner, nap
- 10:00pm-11:00pm-Housework, brushing teeth, errands
- 12:00am-1:00am-Tv or internet browsing
And then I go to sleep at 1:00am. I hope you can appreciate the amount of time it takes to make an animation, I know I've opened my mother's eyes to the amount of work I've had to do to get where I'm at in my film. Animation is not easy, especially if you want to make something as good as possible. Now with that schedule in mind, I can say that it has allowed me to almost complete the first scene in the film. I won't say how many there are in total, but it's not a big number. In short, I've spent most of my time this week non-stop inbetweening the first scene of my film.
Animating is hard stuff...
That said, I can finally announce that the next blog will be the information blowout of the film. I hope you are as excited about that as I am.
This next section will be a smaller update on some important parts in my life. Firstly, if you don't know, I work part-time at Victoria's Secret. I've worked there for almost 3 years- ever since the Stellar Universe days. It was a job just to have to acquire income to pay my bills. I've changed a huge amount as a person since I started working there, and recently I imagined myself being there for even longer. It prompted me to take real action about being more serious with my art and to take a chance on myself. So I put in my two weeks and last Saturday was my last day there. I met some cool people, but I must say that it felt like a huge burden was lifted when I left. I didn't work there often, but the fact that I would have to go out of my way to work a job that wouldn't push my career forward every week was just too much of a mental burden for me. I have a little bit of money saved up that I will use to fund the continued creation of this film until I can find a job better suited for me later in the year.
Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, my birthday is coming up. April 4th to be exact. I'll be 25 years old and I haven't felt more goal oriented in all my life. It's exciting, scary and I'm struck with a deep sense of adventure. I haven't thought much of my age itself, but I have thought about what brought me to this point in my life. I don't know what to expect for the next 25 years, but I've never been more ready to tackle any challenges in my life like I am now.
And on that note, see you next time!
P.S. Here's some more doodles of my character
Even cartoon me looks tired of being drawn
