Welcome back. This will be a short blog about the How to be successful web series. Before I get started, I'd like to thank everyone for the support and general love towards me since I've started on this road of being an artist. I've come a long way and the continued love and support from my peers, family, friends and fans continues to push me to do my best work. Thank you for watching and sharing my short film 'Quiet' (I'll do an update on it soon), and for reading these blogs.
In writing this blog, I want to go over what the scope of the 'How to be successful' (will be written as H2BS from here on out) web series will be. I also want to talk about some of the changes that will occur to this website and my social media channels when the series drops. Let's get to it.
First thing on the agenda is the literal scope of the web series. The H2BS series will start off with 4 episodes. The series will premiere September 22 at 9pm on my website. The cartoons will also premiere on Tuesdays. Next, the shorts will be...short. Much shorter than 'Quiet'. They are timed on average to about 15-20 seconds, not including the introduction.
Glimpse of the intro to the series.
I wanted them at this length because it would be easy to make, I didn't want to do another long film after 'quiet' so soon and most importantly, I wanted to actually have a life this summer after locking myself in for several months to finish my projects. Provided they're successful when they launch, I would consider making them longer. Another reason I kept them bite-sized is because I also wanted to keep them in the same spirit as the comics. The comics can be read in a couple of seconds and I wanted to bring that same quick pace to the cartoons. Essentially the web episodes are the comics come to life. I tried my best to really make it seem like a logical extension of the comics. So far, of the episodes produced, there are 3 regular episodes and a Halloween special. My goal is to have an episode premiere each month
Next, these shorts will not be exclusive to my website. I'll go into more detail at a later time, but web series and special shorts will be shared on my social media. In other words, you will be able to go on YouTube or Vimeo to watch the H2BS shorts. That said, the shorts will premiere on these networks after they go on my website. The reason for the delay is due to me want to share my content first to those who support and believe in me enough to visit my website when they can. It really means a lot to me and I'd like to reward those who are committed to my work. With all of this said, I must be clear: there are no plans to put Quiet on social media.
Now that you know a little bit more about the webseries, the last thing I'll say is that I will be monitoring the success of these shorts very closely. If this is something that people are receptive to, I will definitely consider altering my future plans to incorporate more content like this.
If you follow me on social media, you've probably seen me promoting the shorts with some pre-production work. I'm planning on doing a small run of merchandise to gauge interest and to expose myself to the logistics of working on that stuff, and I'll have some promotional art as well. Stay on the look out for that!
Lastly, here's a thing that happened.
