I Haven’t Drank Alcohol In 6 Months, Here’s What Happened
This blog is a change of pace from my usual art oriented content. While the title of the blog might make me sound like an alcoholic, I assure you, I do not have a drinking problem (of course, maybe an alcoholic would say that, but...). I was more on the line of “social drinker”, were I to be categorized.
What I’ve been learning: 2020
I think it’s very important to learn new things and push yourself to your limit and bypass it. One of my mantras is to “always grow”. There are some things I learn out of curiosity, some I learn to connect with others, and so on. The point is to keep your mind moving. The more you learn, the easier learning new things becomes. So here’s what’s been on my learning agenda for 2020.
3 Common Sense Things You Must Do When Putting Together A Reel
Getting work is, obviously very important, but I feel that animators aren’t really taught what makes a good reel. Not good as in “wow that was fun to watch”, but good as in you’ll become gainfully employed from it. The reel is the most important asset in your arsenal as an animator, but many have a hard time putting together the right content to maximize its utility.
Let’s Show Some Love To Harddrives
Hello all! Here’s a short rumination I’ve had recently. I’ve been thinking about storage a lot recently. I know, very weird and random subject, but as someone who was alive during the 90s and seeing the maturation of digital storage, I’ve honestly been really shocked at the progress.
The Power of Procreate
Welcome back! Hope you all are doing well. I want to spend a little time talking about procreate. It’s a relatively old app (it launched very early in the app store’s life), but has slowly built up its abilities over the past few years.
5 Ways To Get Out of Artist Block
Welcome back readers. Here's a blog that I feel many of you can empathize with. Having artist's block is not fun, so I thought it'd be good to discuss what we as artists and creatives can do to alleviate the stress of artist's block. I decided to write this blog now because it's something I've suffered from for many years. As I got older and married my craft, it has happened much less. Getting stuck isn't fun, so I hope my experience and thoughts can help you get it off whatever rut you're in.
Is Photoshop For iPad Worth It?
Today I’m going to go over Adobe’s Photoshop for iPad. Now, I’ve used photoshop ever since I was a teenager, and it’s been a very close part of my workflow since that point. From making YouTube thumbnails, to layouts, to editing and so on, photoshop has been a part of my life for a long time.
Why Animators Should Adopt A Tablet
Let's say you're 60 years old. You're an amazing animator, but the effects of time are starting to show: you're back hurts, you're out of shape, whenever you move, everything just hurts. A lifetime of artistry and being hunched over a desk had turned you're body into a husk of it's former glory, and now you're paying the price for it.
Adobe Spark Is A Creative Cloud MVP
When I find a program that works well, and makes me want to use it, I like spending a little time talking about why that is. This is not sponsored (at this point in time I write for fun), I just like talking about this kind of stuff, especially when I think it’s deserved.
