What’s My Art Style?
Hello visitors! Art style is a subject that has been on my mind as far back as I can remember. I know it’s a subject that is also on the minds of young artists as well, so I thought this would be a good time to talk about style.
My Feelings On Fanart
Welcome friends and new readers. This blog is something I wanted to put together for a while. Visual artists really love fan art. If you know me personally, you probably already know my feelings on fan art, which weren’t really too positive. Since giving it some thought, I realized my views were a bit more complicated than I originally gave them credit for. While I’m not as anti-fan art as I used to be, I’m not particularly pro-fan art either.
1 Year Without Alcohol
Welcome! At the time of writing this blog, I just recently went over 1 year of not drinking alcohol. I wanted to take some time to reflect on that decision. While I am happy I was able to stop drinking, 2020 was probably not the best year to do so, but if I could stop during that time, I’m sure anything is possible. Moving on, here are the things that have been on my mind as it relates to sobriety.
Do Something Different
Greetings readers! Hope you’re doing well. I wanted to write a short blog about experimentation. This, of course is relegated to the art world, but a lot of the information I’ll be writing about here can be applied elsewhere. This was a topic I’ve had some time to think about since I’ve stepped back from animating recently (I’ll write more about this later), and it’s made a pretty significant impact on my day to day life. Let’s get started.
2020 Year In Review
Welcome friends. This will be the last blog of 2020 and what a year it’s been. For new readers, every year at this time, I do a review of how the year went. Usually the review is done in the context of art, but this year I will expand it to every relevant facet of my life.
The Importance Of Sketching
Welcome back readers! This time I want to go over a simple but important practice: Sketching. Personally, I’ve always had a very simplified, and even dismissive outlook on sketching. I preferred the stages where the picture was already thought out and on the way to completion, so the inking or coloring phases.
3 Habits I Adopted To Take My Art To The Next Level
Welcome back! In recent times one of my obsessions have been to push past my own limits as an artist. While I have had a growth mindset since I could remember, it hasn’t been to this effect before. I’ve felt stuck, artistically over the past few years or so. It doesn’t feel great to drag your feet in something that you look to as a creative outlet. I got tired of feeling this way and wanted to do something about it, but it wasn’t until I made a conscious decision to approach the creative process differently, that I was able to grow. These are 3 habits I started to get me to the next level.
Should I Animate In Adobe Animate Or Toonboom?
This blog is going to be structured in a way where I assign a program for a specific type of person or workflow. I’m doing things like this to avoid a generic “spec war” kind of thing. The reason being that, you can have a spec list but it won’t tell the whole story for someone who is just getting started, or can get into the more specific demands of a niche animator.
